Lucky
Children ~ Lucky Parents
If your child is enrolled in a family child care that participates in
the Federally Funded Child and Adult Care Food Program, you are indeed
fortunate.
Your
Child
- Will
be entitled to 2 meals and 1 snack or 2 snacks and 1 meal per day free
of charge.
- Will
receive nutritionally balanced meals as seen by state approved sponsorship.
- Will
learn healthy eating habits that will promote health and well being
both now and in the future.
Studies
show that participation in the CACFP is an indication of quality child
care. Child Care Providers are visited on a regular basis and receive
training and problem solving support on nutrition topics.
Once
Enrolled In The Program You May Be Called Upon To:
- Verify
your child's enrollment and participation either through mailed questionnaires
or phone calls as required by government regulations.
- Resign
your enrollment information on a yearly basis.
- Confirm
Tiering Reimbursement Information. All
meals served by your provider are free to you, but as a result of the
personal responsibility act of 1996 providers can receive a higher
rate of reimbursement for meals served to children from low income
families.

If your
provider gives you a form, and you believe you fit the guidelines please
respond. Income qualifying will make no difference to you, but it can
make a big difference to your provider.
Note:
Please keep in mind that continuation of this program is not guaranteed.
We depend upon the support of our congressman and senators in Washington
to continue to fund this program. Telling your elected representative
how much you value this program will keep us string and funded.
