Please note:
Rising
costs of oil and natural gas are affecting many Commonwealth residents,
and the Massachusetts Office of Consumer Affairs advises that consumers
get started with a plan to contain the anticipated high costs.
The Department
of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) oversees many energy assistance
programs, administered locally through non-profit agencies. To find
the non-profit agency closets to you, call the statewide number at:
1-800-632-8175.
Specific
programs are outlined on the Division of Energy Resources (DOER) website.
The website also providers a consumer tip sheets on saving energy, information
on keeping winter heating prices low, and contact information for energy

The Mass.
Energy Consumers Alliance, in partnership with CITGO and Citizens Energy,
is offering discount heating oil to nonprofit organizations serving
low-income people. Heating oil delivery costs will be discounted up
to 40% while supplies last. Eligible organizations will be those that
provide critical services to low-income individuals such as education,
health care, housing and nutrition. Examples include - homeless shelters,
subsidized housing, community health centers, food pantries, and child
care or educational facilities serving low-income children. For more
